Phillippa Egerton

Phillippa is a prizewinning printmaker, whose twelve climate change pieces - combining print, painting and drawing  - was shown at St Marys the Virgin, a 12th century Norman church in Battle during this spring and summer and provided a springboard for the formation of a local Battle Community Eco Action group. She will show at least one of the large pieces and miniaturised versions (giclee prints) of the whole series at Open House plus the latest in her dystopian series: “Eat, drink and be merry..” which involve Ragtag and Bobtail - two characters based on childhood toys that enjoy chaos and confusion. Her work responds to events in the wider world as well as her own immediate surroundings and experiences so encompass domestic, urban and abstract work in print, paint, egg tempera and lino cuts.

This time Phillippa is showing two Cake Heads: Corbyn and Keir Starmer. One old - made before Covid and inedible and the other, fresh and edible. The heads will be cut on the second Sunday 13th sometime after four pm. This has become a tradition and is a lighthearted note on which to end the open weekends. Trump and Farage as well as a host of others have been sliced and eaten.

Also showing for the first time in Phillippa’s house, will be Roopa Basu who just finished an amazing project”Voices of Wandsworth” and Harriet Fredman with jewellery and also screen prints of local scenes.
