Jayson Singh
In Jayson's figurative paintings and exotic vistas, natural motifs interact with urban environments. While striking this balance, Jayson also endeavours to provide relevance to his own heritage.
One way he likes to explore this notion, is to render natural forms with coloured sand, in combination with painted environments or portraits. Initially conceived by travelling around India, to research more into his own roots, the coloured sand references ephemeral Rangoli patterns: something the Artist witnessed first hand inside Hindu Temples.
After many experiments and technical discoveries, Jayson has managed to combine 2 very different visual languages within his artwork. Paint manipulation becomes Jayson's preferred means of making sense of the observed World. The appearance of coloured sand serves as a metaphorical reminder of Jayson's roots, though behaving like fading sand, is now given permanent relevance in his Art.
This year, the Artist has decided to take his roots with him on a trip to Japan's countryside and capital city. Striking a balance between this futuristic, yet heritage friendly environment, will definitely provide an exciting challenge for Jayson's 'Floating Visions'...
