This October, artists across Wandsworth are opening their doors for two weekends of art, creativity and discovery.

Explore home studios, galleries and creative spaces across Putney, Southfields, Furzedown & Tooting, and Balham, Battersea & Wandsworth, and meet the artists behind the work.

We'll be back (with Putney school of Art co-ordinating the event this year) in October.

WAOH 2026 - UPDATE!!

We are excited to announce that, after Putney School of Art & Design heard that Wandsworth Artists’ Open House would not go ahead as a borough-wide event this year due to lack of funding, they, with support from Enable and Lynn from Sprout Arts, came up with a plan to coordinate a smaller-scale non-digital 2026 event!

As this has been picked up later than usual, we will not be updating the WAOH website or social media with individual artists’ information, posts or interactive maps this year. Event information will be uploaded with a link to the PSAD registration form & site etc. PSAD will produce the four printed trail maps covering the 4 different wards - Balham, Wandsworth & Battersea, Putney, Southfields, Furzedown & Tooting.

PSAD will promote all participating artists and makers through a centralised campaign they will manage so all artists will need to publicise their own events digitally. Artists will still be able to invite Instagram collaborations with @ArtistsOpenHouse and these will be accepted.

As a result of the event being mostly paper-based, the fees have been reduced compared with previous years but as this will not cover the costs and there is no external funding, PSAD have very generously agreed to cover all remaining associated costs, including staffing time, marketing, design and print costs!

We are so grateful to PSAD for taking this vital project on especially so late in the day. Anyone thinking about becoming a Friend of PSAD, please do!

PARADE MEWS POTTERY

We were invited to visit Parade Mews Pottery, which opened its doors last weekend only (not open this weekend), by ceramicist Laura Fletcher.

Tucked away at 15–17 Parade Mews, SE27 9AX, this hidden gem is home to a community of talented potters working in open access studios.

We discovered an absolute treasure trove of beautifully thrown pottery to sculptural decorative ceramics and had the chance to chat to meet some of the makers behind the work (and couldn’t leave without making a purchase for a special someone’s upcoming birthday).

Inspired by nature and the environment, Ali works across fine art, design and photography - moving seamlessly between organic forms and geometric shapes with striking versatility. There is so much to see!

The technique she uses is acrylic and different media. Her strength lies in her expressiveness and her colour palette. Colour is essential for her, it gives tone, life and energy to her painting. Her line is lively and expressive. Madeleine likes to work with the texture, it gives life to her painting.

Jane Richards will be showing her vast range of beautiful ceramics in Margo Random's home studio on the Tooting & Furzedown Art Trail this year.

Jane studied at Harrow School of Art obtaining a Higher Diploma in Studio Pottery in 1979. Having spent many years teaching pottery, she now has a studio in her garden and is enjoying having the time to focus on her own practice.

Jane's ceramics are made on the wheel in porcelain and stoneware. She enjoys throwing pots with function in mind. Her work is decorated with surface texture, colourful slips and glazes.
